Tim Brighouse Knighted for his achievements in Education
Tim Brighouse was nominated in the New Years Honours list for his Achievements in Education. This would come as no surprise to those who have worked with him, the most commonly used adjectives when describing him being: Charismatic, Visionary, Inspirational.
In a career spanning three decades Tim has worked in a variety of schools including gaining a deputy Headship at the age of 26. By the age of 38 he was Chief Education Officer of Oxfordshire. He later also took on the post of Chief Education Officer of Birmingham. He has held professorial posts at Keele University and the Institute of Education. In 2007 he completed his full time career in education as Commissioner for London Schools.
In response to questions about his knighthood, Sir Tim said “I’ve always worried about what teachers would think about something like that (being knighted) but I know if it wasn’t for excellent teachers in Birmingham, London and Oxfordshire and all they did, it wouldn’t have happened. All I’ve done is gone around talking about what they have done and shining a light on their work. Without them it wouldn’t have happened”.
