Introduction
Bob started his teaching career in Haringey in 1972, and then went onto teach in Birmingham, Salford and Hampshire, eventually becoming Deputy Headteacher at St Vincent’s Comprehensive in Hampshire in 1978. From there Bob moved to the Local Authority, working in Knowsley, the Wirral and Wigan where he was the Director of Education from 1994 to 2003. From Wigan he was seconded to Liverpool when it was deemed to be failing. Since retirement he has acted as a Consultant in Oldham, Barnsley and Peterborough, Leicestershire, Sandwell and Leicester, mostly in authorities that were in difficulties. Much of his work has involved mentoring and supporting new Directors of Children’s Services

Interim Executive Strategic Director of Children and Young People’s Services
Leicester City Council.
Expert Group at NCSL for Director’s of Children’s Services training course.
