Introduction

Naomi Eisenstadt has a long history of working in social policy, mainly in Children’s Services.

Following her arrival in the UK in 1974, Naomi worked in nurseries in Edinburgh and Milton Keynes, eventually establishing the Moorland Children’s Centre in Milton Keynes. She became heavily involved in developing Early Years Services in the area, leading on to her extensive involvement in policy shaping within the Children’s Services sector.

Whilst Director of Sure Start, Naomi was responsible for the successful roll out of the programme which included Government policy and delivery on services for young children, extended schools and parenting policy - reaching thousands of children.

During her term as Secretary of State’s Chief Advisor on Children’s Services, Naomi advised Ministers across the full range of “Every Child Matters” policy, and developed new approaches to the improvement of front line children’s services.

More recently in her role as Director of Social Exclusion Task Force Naomi has coordinated social exclusion policy across government, and was responsible for overseeing delivery of the “Social Exclusion Action Plan” and the first ever Public Service Agreement aimed to support the most disadvantaged groups in society.
